Notifications of New Posts and Replies

• How can I be notified of a new post or reply to the bulletin boards?
• Can I pick and choose how I want to be notified for different areas?

Question: How can I be notified of a new post or reply to the bulletin boards?

Answer: Once you have logged in, there are two areas you should check to make sure that notifications are set according to your preferences.  First, if you click on the My Account button at the top, it will open up a new page, automatically to the section called Watched Topics (Figure 1) which shows all of the topics you have started.   If you wish to be notified instantly of any responses, check the boxes next to the topics.

The second tab, Watched Forums (Figure 2), allows you to select any or all of the forums you wish to be notified about.   Again, if you wish to be notified of responses, please check the appropriate boxes. And in this tab, you will notice that you have a choice to be notified either immediately or daily of any new postings or responses.

Second, you can also choose to be notified specifically of any responses to your own postings.  See the answer to this question for an example of the process.

Question: Can I pick and choose how I want to be notified for different areas?

Answer:  You can choose to be notified of any responses to your own postings immediately, but as for the forums and the bulletin boards in general, you must choose either individual emails or daily digests of all postings.  Please see this question for specifics. And please remember that all such notices will go to the email address you registered with.
