Profiles

• I have been registered, but I need to change to may password.  How can I do it?
• I want one of those "avatars" that others use, how can I get one?  Can I use my own image?
• I want to see someone else's profile.  How can I do that? Can I send them a private message?

Question: I have been registered, but I need to change to may password.  How can I do it?

Answer: Once you have been registered, you can go the login window (see Figure 1) and enter the user name and password you were assigned.

Once you have logged in, you should then click on the My Account button on the top and then click on the Password tab (Figure 2).  Once there, you can enter your pre-assigned password as your Old Password and then enter the password you want to use.

Question: I want one of those "avatars" that others use, how can I get one?  Can I use my own image?

Answer: Once you have logged in, choose the "My Account" button at the top of the page and then choose the Avatar tab (Figure 3).  You can then choose either an avatar from one of the Avatar Galleries listed in the bottom left panel, or you can upload your own by browsing to the image on your own computer by using the Browse feature in the upper right area. There are some limitations, however, to having your own avatar:  They must be less than 15,000 (15 kbytes) bytes in size, and must be 128 pixels in either height or width.

Question: I want to see someone else's profile.  How can I do that? Can I send them a private message?

Answer: You can click on the Members button at the top of the page.  It will open up a listing of members (see Figure 4).

Once you have opened up the Members list, you can find any member by their user name.  You can either scroll down, or choose the first letter of their username and go to that section of list.  Once you have found the member's name, you can click on the username which will open a menu (see Figure 5). From there you can choose to see their profile, send them an email or a private message.

In your own Profile area you can also choose how much information you want others to see.  We always recommend that your choose to hide your email address.  That will ensure that your email address is not harvested by one of the hundreds of robots scouring websites for email addresses.  These addresses are often used to send spam and viruses and other malware.
