Registration and Browsing

• Is the discussion area open to everyone?
• Do I have to register to see what is on the boards?
• I am a current or former WSC Participant, how do I register?

Question: Is the discussion area open to everyone?

Answer: Yes, anyone can view the vast majority of the WSC Participant Discussion Boards, but only current and former WSC Participants can post material on it. 

It was decided that former conference participants would be able to post to the bulletin boards.  For our purposes, “former conference participant” means any RD, Alternate RD, or World Board member who served at WSC 2000 or since. This was the year that the conference, and how it operated, changed considerably.  These changes have led to how we function today.  The levels of participation vary somewhat, but almost all of the boards are open to be viewed by anyone.

Levels of Participation:

Current Conference Participants – full access to all sections of the discussion area.

Former Conference Participants – full access to General Information and WSC –Past and Future, and view-only access to Conference Participants Polls.

Visitors – view-only access to same areas as former conference participants.

Question: Do I have to register to see what is on the boards?

Answer: Anyone can view the vast majority of the WSC Participant Discussion Boards, but only current and former WSC Participants can post material on it.  The boards to visitors, appears as shown in Figure 1 below

Clicking on the Popular Tab will result in a new page showing those postings or topics that have been viewed often.  See Figure 2.

Similarly, clicking on Recent tab, will result in showing those topics that have been posted or replied to most recently.  See Figure 3.

Question: I am a current or former WSC Participant, how do I register?

Answer: Registrations are done manually due to the nature of the boards and the different levels of participation. However, you can go to the Registration Form, shown in Figure 5.  Please remember that only current and former WSC participants are eligible to register for these boards.

If you click on the Register button (next to the Login button in the upper right area of the main page) that will take you to the page shown in Figure 4.  Registrations are done manually due to the nature of the boards and the different levels of participation, so this option is not available directly from the Bulletin Board.

Once the request has been received, NAWS staff will review the request, and when appropriate will manually complete the registration.  Once the registration is complete, a confirmation notice is sent automatically to the email address entered on the form.   However, if you end up here, you can always click on the Highlighted words, " WSC Discussion Boards Signup Page" and be taken to the registration form.
